I bought a cheap G&L tele. The lipstick pickup was hands down the worst sounding pickup I have ever heard. Popped my old Squire Strat pickup in. Night and day.

Not crapping on G&L, just trying to soften the blow of not getting the guitar you want  My friend has a good G&L Tele and its the best sounding guitar I have ever heard. Hope it comes soon for ya!

Monoprice has a Tele on sale and you get 20% off right now

i hope if anyone else is aware of producers, likely specifically for kemper, they will be able to give better alternatives.

Thu, 07 Dec 2023 20:55:20 +0000

I use the Sennheiser EW-100 guitar wireless and the Shure PSM 300 IEM with the Shure SE535 ear buds.

They work great and no lost signals at all.

The one thing I need to do is have the wireless packs on opposite sides of my body when in use.

Very close to my setup. I echo the recommendation. Don’t have them too close.

this unit is just a big fail imo and will be redundand soon. Or they revise the whole modelling and quality of amp models. What a pity.

I'm hair splitting here, I know you meant that but just wanted to give my personal 2 cents... Problem is we still think in amalog terms. No, in fact this unit is the most powerful and perfect unit that combines every main feature request that you can find in the feature request thread of this forum. This has to mean something. It is as if Fender can read and act and others don't. What you mean is that currently the computer code, the algorithms etc. that it runs are not perfect or disappointing in respect of how they spit out what they have calculated. That's a huge difference and the code can and will change from time to time, I claim to the better. Depending on how talented and gifted the computer nerds are at Fender. If you put fractal's or line6's firmware in there (why should it not be possible in theory, without me being an expert), all of a sudden you will have "a different unit". No you won't, of course. We have reached a point where the unsexy computer nerds have taken over and we somehow depend on them. If you compare Helix's computer code from 8 years ago to the latest Line6 fw update, you will notice that the Helix today is a totally "different" beast. If Fender does not lose interest in their Multi FX path, their TMP will become a better and better sounding, latest code spitting machine, for sure. After all they have the money to hire better programmers or pay more than fractal (assumption). The real way to "fix" this endless digital programming rabbit hole is to go analog, again. That's where The Amp X in theory comes in but we are not there, yet. For me this route of "real" tone analog modelling is the real game changing thinking. Isn't Winter Namm coming?

Sun, 03 Dec 2023 16:08:15 +0000 New Rack Gear month has been extended !!

kemper-amps.com/wbb/attachment/18648/

I've added a (used ,) dbx compressor to the old school non- modelling/profiling half of my rack, added midi cables to get a degree of potential control over stuff (mainly to get the tempo light to all blink synchronously.

I've also redone the cabling to move the patchbay to the front of the rack (where it should have been all along). Which makes swapping the hardware setup a flippin' breeze.

If you' wanna get it over with.....may as well bite the bullet and go with something like a Strymon Zuma and the Ojai expansion. Individual outputs for all and additional expansion capabilities if needed. Not cheap by any measure.....but one and done.

Wed, 08 Nov 2023 17:21:58 +0000

Yes there are bad sounding effects. The fact that they are implemented in software and that there might be multiple types doesn't mean any of them are high quality. I don't get the logic?

Reverb, especially, is an effect that is sensitive to the way it is implemented. This is why many of the big companies have their own algorithms. This is essentially why Eventide, Strymon, TC, Lexicon, etc... all claim to be the best and why users prefer one over the other. Companies making digital mixers Mackie, Behringer, Presonus, etc... are generally focused on the product as a digital mixer with added effect options. They are not focused on implementing the best effects and the proof is in the sound. I thought this was common knowledge.

I am not recording with my digital mixer and have been able to find things that do what I need and sound good live. That is why said I was a little surprised. One could argue that all of the companies you mentioned produce a small variation of the same thing. In a live situation I doubt anyone would hear it and know which company produced it.

Mon, 06 Nov 2023 10:40:39 +0000 Interesting effect of pedal order.

Earlier researchfound:

TC Mimic stereo output into Dimension C (also stereo) - Wide and lush....... Working together and making a nice sound. Very nice.

Dimension C into TC mimic. The gods of phase cancellation confiscate the nice bits of the sounds leaving a thin weedy trembling remnant.

Weekend playtime findings

Putting an analogue delay (a home made Deep Blue Delay clone 'frinstance) infront of the Mimic/Dim C is also 'very nice' works well. The 'degraded echoes' seem to make the sound 'even bigger'. Looking forward to feeding a pristine digital delay into this mélange.
