Perhaps we are talking about two different devices!?
I have been referring to PDI 03 JB, which doesn't offer 4 line level outputs. Are you referring to rackmount PDI 03L 4/8/16?
Ah ok! Sure, i'm referring to the rack mount Palmer PDI-03, not the Joe Bonamassa signature! -
As far as I can see in the manual, there is always a speaker simulation involved. The attenuator can be deactivated. The internal speaker simulation has various positions, but the filters cannot be switched off completely.
Hi Burkhard, I don't know which manual are you checking, in the PDI-03 manual available on Palmer's site, page 8, paragraph 2 (explaining the four rear Line Out connectors) it says: " The outputs 1, 2, 3 and 4 provide an unfiltered line level signal, i.e. without speaker simulation, for using the amplifier as a dedicated preamp to feed effect units separately. The ooutput can also be tracked for re-amping"
So don't worry, the speaker simulation is not involved in those outputs, and i can confirm that by my direct experience! -
I have the same amp, a GT Soul-o 45 and i'm going to direct-profile it with my Palmer PDI-03 this weekend, i'll let you know how it will go!

Don't forget the Palmer PDI-03!

Yes i definitely agree with Dani_munich and Deadlightstudio: using a load box without a speaker connected will not give you the same (excellent) results as a DI box connected to a speaker. I've been using fw 3.0.1 with a Palmer PDI-03 DI / Loadbox profiling a Masotti X100M tube head and i got excellent results when the Palmer was connected to a speaker, while i got a somehow "muddy" sound using the Palmer's load box. I tried with 2 very differently sounding speakers (a 2x12 celestion V30 and a 1x12 Alnico Gold) but the results where undistinguishable between the two.
So .... my dream of profiling pushing the amp at impossible volumes with a load box silencing the whole thing is gone!
