Good reminder for everyone. If I am playing live, I always bring along surge protection. But, around the house, I just plug into the wall in the office or the jam room. Whoever recommended the Zero Surge products, I just ordered one. Small and compact. Thanks.

chris - you should start including a PDF snapshot of the amp settings/cabs/mics for all the profiles in your sets so we know what we are previewing for reference.

sounds interesting. order in chris, for the fish and mark iv packs.......

I use 3 basic set ups.....
1) Mark IIC+ for all the balls to the wall stuff
2) Vox AC30 for certain lower gain applications
3) Marshall Jose for everything else in between and certain genre. -

Mesa Cab Clone
Suhr Reactive Loadedit - I have been playing around with some DI profiles the last few days with the Mesa CC. its lowest DI output is mic level at -30db and I am still finding that to be fairly "hot" for the Kemper.
Haven't tried the new Suhr box yet, but I have one coming soon and will give it a go.
Also, most of the Two Notes products should work well. I am going to give the Torpedo Live a go this week and compare.

We're friends on Facebook, Tokai Guitars.
I've been downloading the profiles you're kindly sharing on FB, awesome stuff.
I think Pete Turley mentioned (on FB) that you have an incredible collection of amps.
ah, OK. keep your eyes peeled, I have more profiles coming and reworking some of the earlier ones. that collection may soon grow smaller!

The Power Rack is simply the best thing since sliced bread. Being able to profile your reference amps and have a live cab on stage without a separate power amp is fantastic. Getting more comfortable with it every day. Liked it so much, I just bought a second one. For the added routing options, it is a no brainer for live use.

Just redid some of my Mark IIC+ profiles with the Mesa Cab Clone and well please at how they turned out. I either suck bad at miking or the CC is a hell of a DI for some Boogie flavored tone. Will polish them up and post to Rig Exchange shortly.

Steve, if you look in the rig exchange you can find a Profile of my Bogner Helios 100 that I did with my Torpedo Live. I used the Angle Vintage C with the royer 121
Cool. Will check it out.

Just posted three profiles in Rig Exchange of my Jose Arredondo amp. Mild/Mad/Pissed. 3 different settings on the amp. EQ is done in the EQ FX block, so leave it on. Profiled with a Mesa Tradition 412 with V30's and a PR30 mic. MCP 2nd Degree BB's in a Les Paul.
Enjoy.....

The last thing you want to do is guess what EQ is needed from onstage. The FOH sound engineer will adjust the tone with his equipment, if needed.
True....but some soundmen I have had are no more than DJ's.

Anyone using a post EQ (10 band or similar) for DI in your rack for live venues? With venues and sound systems set up differently, seems like a good thing to do.

Going to give the Mesa Cab Clone a go and compare to the mic'd cabs for profiles. May try my Torpedo Live too if I have time.

I've one - not tried profiling at all yet, but it works using the line out into a DAW from Kemper without coloring the sound with it's "cab clones" so should work ok.
Gonna give it a go with the CC. Was sitting here staring at my little Mesa Mark V.25 with its built in CC.

I set up to profile some more today with v3.0xxxx. I dug out Rasmussen's notes from the recoding of Master of Puppets. So, I got out my original wide head Mark IIC+. I also have a pair of B&B EQF-2's in a rackmount just like the one's used here and in James' live racks prior to the Mesa black box. They were running these in the FX loop and had an 8 ohm speaker load from the amp to kill the power section - and slaved out to a Marshall power amp. I profiled using a Mesa Strategy 400. Both channels into a stereo Mesa Traditional 412 and mic'd with a Heil PR30. Made two profiles, one for the MOP settings and one for Sanitarium settings with the amp and B&B (from the notes). Must say I was quite impressed with the profiles. I have loaded them in Rig Exchange. Enjoy....

yes yes yes.

Anyone try the Mesa Cab Clone as a DI for profiling Mesa amps?

Any benefit to using a decent mic preamp for profiling vs. not using one?
