eine kurze Frag zum Erstellen von Direktprofilen:

Ich habe hier einen Marshall JCM 800 und eine Fryette Power Station PS-2A.

Sehe ich das so richtig?

1. Gitarre in den KPA
2. Über Direct Out in den Marshall und von dort in die Fryette
3. Über den Line-Out der Fryette in den Return des KPA
4. Fertig

Gibt es sonst noch irgendwelche Tips usw. für das Erstellen von Direktprofilen?

Liebe Mitforisten,

ich möchte mir einen power amp kaufen um meinen (unpowered) Kemper über eine normale Gitarrenbox spielen zu können. Ich weiß, dass es verschiedene Möglichkeiten gibt, habe mich aber auf zwei Optionen festgelegt:

1. Aufgrund des relativ günstigen Preises (<900€) überlege ich mir einen Peavey 6505+ Amp zu kaufen und den Kemper dann über den Return des Effektwegs anzuschließen.
Vorteil: eine gute Röhrenendstufe und ein kompletter Amp dazu.

2. Alternativ dazu überlege ich mir die Fryette PS2 zu kaufen.

Vorteil: eine Röhrenendstufe und all die netten Features (power soak, reactive load)

Es gibt im Internet mehrere Videos mit der Kombination KPA & 6505 und in allen finde ich den Sound ziemlich beeindruckend (Beispiel:

ABER: In allen Videos ist direkter Kamerasound zu hören, was nur eingeschränkt einen objektiven Vergleich ermöglicht.

Ich bin wirklich nur an diesen beiden Optionen interessiert, nicht an FRFR, Camplifier, aktiven Boxen, usw.

Hat jemand von euch vielleicht einmal diese beiden Optionen direkt miteinander verglichen?

Can anybody briefly explain how to store cabinets with the editor of RigManager 3? Currently i'm storing cabinets via the profiler.

I guess it is possible to store cabs via the software (is it?) but apparently i'm too blind to find the correct way how to do it.

Bisher gehen ich immer noch den Umweg und speichere die Cabinets direkt am Profiler. Aber das geht doch sicher mittlerweile komfortabler. Ich raffe nur nicht wie...

@ CarloLf: That might be true. But i mainly play music with a certain degree of distortion/saturation. So that's my reality as a guitar player.

I do love my KPA, though I hope my post above is not interpreted as a KPA bashing.

Whenever I play a powered KPA via a guitar cab I think "yeah, this sounds nice" but I always have the feeling that differences between amps (e.g. a Marshall JCM profile and a Boogie Recti) get lost. Every amp profile sounds good but kind of similar. Not exactly the same, but somehow like they are loosing their character. I don't have better words to describe this.

For a gig this doesn't matter to me since i only need the guitar signal for monitoring and i know that the PA sound (of the full profile) will be great.
For me the KPA is a tool for recording and plaing gigs. But for rehearsing with a band or for playing at home there is nothing that can beat a real amp and cab.

Just my thoughts.

A simple reboot of my PC solved the problem.

Rig Manager 3 offers to update the OS to v7.1.19. But the update always fails ("An error occurred while updating ...").

Does this usually work? Or do i need to update via USB?

Upgraded to OS7as soon as it was available. No issues noted so far.

I'm so grateful for the new mode to change FXs and selected presets. Finally the days of endless scrolling are over.

EMG81/85 in my Gibson Flying V all mahogany. I have the PUs as close to the strings as possible.

The sound is nothing dull, i find it rather too harsh for some profiles.

I'd recommend (if you haven't done this already) try to find profiles that have been created with EMGs (if possible the saem model you are using).

Or maybe try the Lasse Lammert rig pack, these profiles are pretty bright (and i think were made with EMGs?).

I also had EMGs in another (ESP) guitar with mahogany body, maple neck. Great sound too. No dullness at al.

Was den Klang betrifft stimmt das. Ich hatte bisher angenommen, dass die Profile lauter klingen, je näher man beim Profiling an die Clippinggrenze kommt. Daher hatte ich mir bisher die Mühe gemacht den Return Level Wert immer so hoch wie möglich zu setzen.

Bei meiner gestrigen Sitzung habe ich es dann ein paar Mal vergessen und festgestellt, dass die ohne Tweaking erstellten Profile genau so laut sind.

Ich habe jetzt in der letzten Profiling-Session diesen Regler ignoriert und bemerke , was den Klang betrifft, keinen Unterschied.

Da hätte ich mir das Gefummel in den früheren Sitzungen wohl sparen können

bisher habe ich beim Erstellen von Profilen jedes Mal den Return Level so eingestellt, dass ich gerade keine Verzerrung in meinem Signal erhalte.

Wenn ich aber das Manual richtig verstehe, brauche ich das eigentlich gar nicht, da der KPA während der Profilerstellung sowieso automatisch den korrekten Level ermittelt.
Ist das korrekt?

Falls ja, wozu gibt es dann überhaupt diese Option den "Return Level" einzustellen?

I really like the Michael Wagener bass rigs, especially the ampeg profiles, with my Fender p bass.

My other choice would be Andy's bass man profiles, usually the Fan BM Bass5 or 6.
