CK seems to have just confirmed in another post that the Player uses the same processor as its big brothers so I don’t think DSP power is the issue but rather a conscious decision to limit the capabilities. He has also stated in other posts that there may be paid upgrades available in future so I would expect the full range of FX to be part of any such upgrade.

I can't really answer that with certainty as I no longer use a real cab. All my guitar cabs are in a storage container just nowise I can't do an A/B test I would only be answering from memory which isn't always perfect. All I can say is, when I did use a real cab I never had any issues with the sound and it always sounded and felt totally natural.

Eventide apply this type of model with the H9 pedal. You get the core pedal and FX but then buy additional algorithms as required. I’m not saying its good or bad just that there is a precedent for it already.

As Bakersounds said, the most like cause is phase cancellation because you are hearing the direct sound along with the DAW signal which is delayed a few milliseconds. You need to either turn off the direct signal and only monitor the DAW sognal 9there will be some latency this way) or turn off the monitoring via the DAW and just listen to the direct signal while tracking.

OneEng1 once again, I agree with most of your reasoning. It would be preferable to have the full range of FX and Morphing. The decision to dump the screen was a masterstroke in my opinion. Having the small form factor with all the space being used for physical controls makes the unit incredibly easy to use as a basic amp. I have now spent a several hours on the player and the interface is super easy and intuitive.

As others have pointed out, something is clearly wrong with your setup.

I currently have a THD BiValve, Mesa Studio .22, Mark V:25, Triaxis with Stereo 2:ninety power amp and a Two Channel Dual Rectifier sitting in my shipping container as i no longer use them. The Kemper has replaced all pf the, and my old pedal board with various Od/Boost, Strymon Timeline and Strymon Mobius.

In a blind test I can’t tell the difference.

Do you have Wah > Volume ticked in the system menu?

This allows you to use the same pedal as both Wah and Volume. If Wah is active the pedal serves as a wah pedal but if wah is not active it becomes a volume pedal.

Thanks for the background ckemper .

I can confirm that the knobs and bargraph LEDs work brilliantly in real life. I have been playing with is all day and it is super intuitive to use.

I much appreciate having the extra physical controls rather than a display with only one or two knobs.

I would definitely like to see the KemperDrive and KemperFuzz available rather than four different overdrive FX though. And Morphing would be super useful too.

In Canada the Helix is $2,349.99.

    The Kemper player is $1,025.00.

You can literally buy 2 Kemper players for the price of a Helix. Just imagine the possibilities.

I think you're looking at the full Helix not the HX Stomp which is £499 here in the UK.

However, my product manager self says that the color LCD is sexy on the helix and will sell. I would not have released a product without the color LCD even if I thought it was functionally irrelevant due to size. In fact, I would have argued that the Kemper Player have a larger color LCD than the Helix and would have touted its readability in a live setting.

I understand your points and agree that the Helix will be stiff competition but I don't agree about the screen.

For me the use of space to allow additional physical knobs is a much better trade off. For live use the Player would be a perfect solution for most of my gigs I use a limited number of amps and barely any FX. With such a limited setup I don't need a screen to know where I am but the ability to just reach down and tweak a knob like a real amp is really attractive to me.

It will be interesting to see how it fares in the market. I liked RosboneMako analogy. I see it as a potential gateway drug to Kemper addiction too 😂

Kellerblues is correct. The Kemper Drive is modelled on the Tube Screamer style circuit (as are all of the OD models with presets such as Klon, Blues Driver, Full Drive etc) whereas other OD effects like the Full OD are based on totally different circuits. The TS style circuit includes a portion of clean signal as part of its design. You can’t get rid of it on the real pedals either. As a result these OD pedals are designed to work with an already overdriven (or at least on the edge of breakup) amp rather then clean. The little bit of clean signal pushes the amp without making it too muddy. This means they don’t really sound their best with a clean amp. It’s just the way they were designed.

    This one as well

I immediately thought of him too but went with Stevie as he’s still alive and could undoubtedly do amazing things with a Profile Player. Jeff would have sounded epic with one too. Saw him live once in Glasgow he was the real deal.

I got a very short reply from Kemper saying that there is no screen reader support yet. This does not sound promising so I'll once more stick to the lower quality equipment (ME-90 etc).

Guess we're still in the 90ths when it comes to accessibility. If your eyes aren't performing well enough, please stay away from modern profilers/modelers.

    Sorry to hear that.

They are only made for real musicians.

I reckon this guy might be a REAL musician 😆
