I have found the USB audio of the Kemper to be of little use. The Stage has 4 in and 4 outs, the Rack and Head are only 2 in and 2 outs. My recording interface (Behringer X32) has 32 ins and 32 outs. It can also feed 10 pairs of monitors with their own mix.

The only reason I would use the Kemper USB is to record a single stereo track, I never re-amp anything. Other than those two things, I can think of no other reason to use the Kemper USB audio at all.

2 Mb file size limit. I think there is also a limit on the image size but don't know what it is.

    FYI

I never use the Attachments option. I just drag the image into the text window and I'm done.

Rig Manager is (seems to be) causing strange behavior with my Rack unit. I haven't checked the Stage unit yet because I spent so much time on trying to figure out what was happening on the Rack.

All amps in the performance slot got set to the default Kemper crunch amp. This happened after the 9.0.8 update and before the unit was connected to Rig Manager. I first used RM on my iPad after hearing the awful sound coming from the Rack unit. That's when I saw all amps in the loaded performance went to crunch. I fired up RM on the computer and copied the saved performance from the local Library back to the Rack unit. All 5 slots were then back where they were supposed to be. When I shut down the iPad the slot I was on reverted back to the god awful crunch sound.

I'm really getting tired of fighting the Software and faulty updates. It's having an adverse effect on my opinion of Kemper.

Have you tested liquid profiling yet ?

The EQ settings and gain of the profiled amp are saved with the profile so anyone who loads it will get the full benefit.

So my 6505 posted above for example, can be loaded and the profiled amp settings are loaded with the profile which can then be tweaked and react like the real amp.

I don't even know what a 6505 is let alone how it's supposed to react. That's why I see liquid profile being more intended for those who use and profile amps.

No, I have not used liquid profiles yet. I swore off beta test after OS version 9. Mine is just an opinion, nobody has to agree with it.

    Kemper makes PROFILERS not Profile-Players.

I know that even people who never owned a real amp can benefit from liquid profiles, especially if they know the amp settings of the original profile. If the original amp settings are not known, it's kind of hit and miss. For those of us who profile our own amps only one profile is needed instead of many snapshots at different settings.

    1. Fender Machete

    2 Hartke Bass Kickback 12

    3. Fishman Loudbox Mini

    4. Fender Deluxe Reverb Tone Master

    5. Fender Acoustic 100

    6. Quilter Steelaire

    7. Quilter Tone Block 202

    8. Fender Blues Deville

    9. Spark amp

This would cover all the amps I own and use. I have only profiled the Machete and have no idea which of the now available tone stacks would work best with the profile, but I did photograph the settings it was profiled with. If a modeled Machete tone stack is ever available, I'm ready for it.

No. The Amps that are used for the tonestack are modelled by Kemper and coded into the unit. It doesn’t matter who profiles what amp in future the amp list for tone stacks can only be increased by Kemper adding them. Kemper have said several times including in the manual that Liquid Profiling is the merger of profiling and modelling.

I was typing and you beat me too it.

First of all, I hate the "Liquid" label that Kemper chose to go with. It seems to cause a confusion of the process.

When the 1st video of Mr. Kemper first came out he said they used the amp schematics to model the tone stacks.

That means for every amp that will/can be available, someone will have to input the schematic components into a computer to build that virtual model. The software used is what Engineers use to design electronics components. This allows the Kemper generic tone stack to be replaced by the tone stack designed to react like the real amp tone stack rather than by the Kemper generic tone stack (which is not anywhere near the correct range values for any amp).

I'm replacing all the pots in a Fender Blues Deville 410 and all the pots have different values. Those pots in a different amp would not produce the same results in a different amp. The end result is dependent on the entire circuit i.e. pots, caps, resistors, wire gage and every single component in the circuit.

"Liquid" profiles are profiled amps combined with modeled circuits. Don't confuse modeled with profiled.

Good news, I was finally able to update the rack unit to 7.3.2. after a couple of attempts. For anyone else who has this problem there was a bit of deviation from the update instructions to make this work.

    The last paragraph of the instructions included with the download states the following ;

"Expand the downloaded .zip file and copy the OS file “kaos.bin” into the root directory or the folder “OS Update” of the pre-formatted USB flash drive using your Mac or PC. Make sure there is only one file named “kaos.bin” anywhere on that flash drive. Next, unmount the USB flash drive from your computer and plug it into the PROFILER already powered on. Follow the on-screen instructions which will appear after a couple of seconds "

This will not work! as soon as the unit is powered on the message "nanoburn from USB" appears and plugging in the USB drive will result in the same error as pictured in post #4. The USB drive must be inserted BEFORE turning the unit on. It may have been possible to finish the 9.0.8 update if I had just inserted the USB drive before powering the unit on.

After OS7.3.2 installed, updating to 9.0.8 went as usual. While the Kemper was on and running 7.3.2, I replaced the kaos.bin file on the USB drive with 9.0.8 and reinserted the drive. after a couple of seconds the Kemper prompted me to update and installed 9.0.8 without error.

    In hindsight:

This error may have been caused by trying to update the OS from Rig Manager. I run 2 profilers and with the Stage unit selected as "use for preview" Rig Manager started to update the Rack unit and failed. The Stage unit was updated from the USB drive and installed with no error.

I will never try to update a profiler OS from Rig Manager again! Rig Manager is tricky to use with 2 profilers in the first place. In my opinion Kemper needs to do better in that regard.

    Edward,

Not that it helps, but I just updated my Power Rack via USB with no issues. Hopefully you can get some resolution to this. I totally understand your concern and frustration.

Thanks, my stage unit updated on the first try. The rack unit came from Sweetwater just a couple of months ago and is at the moment nothing more than a $1600 paperweight. I can no longer recommend purchasing a Kemper to anyone. I am very disappointed. The issue will be resolved, it's new so I have a 3 year warranty but I am OLD (74 in Oct.) and don't have the time to screw around with problems that should never have happened. I could be more forgiving if this was a beta update but it isn't and I can't.
