Reading here and there on the forum I saw lot of users bought Vandamme (preassembled) ethernet cable as replacement for remote. Since I can make some ethernet plugs by my self, I bought 7 meters of Vandamme tourcat 5e cable and made the ethernet plugs at the ends. The problem is that I get less brightness on the remote compared with the original cable, I tested the cable and works fine and the plugs are made well. Any suggestion?

what is the AWG spec of the cable you're using?
please consult the main PROFILER manual which has a paragraph about cabling (in particular: see note about AWG rating)

I thought the connection between the unit and remote was digital? Would expect it to be intermittent if there's a cable issue, not change the tone.

it´s not the brightness of the tone but of the remote LEDs that changed with the cable.
Digital cables too depend on tech specs like resistance, ohm etc.
it´s all in detail in the manual.

According to the Van Damme website it is AWG 26/7

This is what the manual says:
The diameter of the wire is the critical factor. The cable delivered with the Remote meets American Wire Gauge 24 (AWG), which can support up to 7.5m (22ft) length. AWG 26 cables have a smaller diameter and can only support up to 5m (15ft). Cables with higher AWG e.g. AWG 28 should not be used with the Remote.
The lower brightness of the display is an indication that the resistance is too high.
