I am waiting on a response from support but in the meantime will ask here.

I tried to update both of my profilers this morning and the update on the rack unit failed but the stage unit updated with no problem. The rack unit is now stuck on an error message that asks me to install version 4.0 first. The first failure occurred trying to update from RM so I tried from from the USB drive, no luck. The stage unit was updated from the USB drive and completed with no error.

Currently the rack unit displays "nanoboot From USB drive" as soon as I try to power it on, with or without the USB Drive inserted. With the drive inserted the above mentioned error message appears within a few seconds. I have tried holding the System and Rig buttons while powering on but the OS will still not update. Also tried with OS 8.7.2 and got the same results.

    Somebody HELP!

I haven't looked at the beta release yet but am wondering if it will even be of much use to me. Sounds good so far but I'm wondering if or when models of my amp's tone stacks will be available. My whole reasoning for having the profiler is to profile the amps I own and use. If liquid profiles (modeled tone stacks) could make my profiles act like my real amp as advertised, I'd have all I need and sell thousands of dollars worth of amps and still have them all in a $1500 box.

When version 10 is out of beta I will update just to see what's in it. I have a Fender Machete that I am very fond of and have made a decent profile of. What LP model should I use for it? The real amp has the normal gain, bass, mid, treble plus what they call a notch filter. My bass amp has something similar called shape, I call it Q. I really like to use that particular control to fit an instrument into a mix. Do any of the modeled tone stacks have anything like that or is there a parameter in the Kemper that can do the same?

Here's a practice video I shot in Nov 2022. I have since moved everything from this 10x12 room to the room next door which is 10x15. I haven't taken any videos yet but I have added another Kemper (rack) and moved the 2 drum machines to the mic stand and bought a rack that holds 9 guitars. That extra 3 feet of space got filled up pretty quick.

I made this video with the intent of checking the sound levels of my (then) new video camera, not for public viewing. the voice-over levels are not so good but the playback of the DAW mix wasn't bad. I recorded the music in 1 take with one guitar and an Alesis SR-16 drum machine, a GR-55 for the organ sound, a VG-99 for the bass and a Kemper stage for the guitar. That's 8 channels thru a Behringer X32 into Reaper and back out thru the X32 to the XLR inputs on the camera.

Most don't, some do. As I said above, " If there is, you may want to consider a different DI box". Personally I insist that my DI does not color the sound just as I insist that my mixer/interface and speakers not color the sound. The sound I hear in my headphones plugged into the Kemper is the sound I want to hear in my monitors. Anything else is just more work to correct the difference.

This conversation reminds me of an Avid Eleven Rack I purchased from someone on Reverb about 2 years ago. I paid $240 and lucky for me, sold it for $100. I thought I would have to give it away because I didn't have a key for Pro Tools.

Being retired, I don't have to worry about anyone stealing my equipment or "my sound" (LOL). For people still working in the music business one of the hardest lessons to learn is "Thou shalt not leave ANY equipment unattended"

It can also be one of the most expensive lessons to learn.

I suspect you are using a unit built before 2019. just a guess.....

See post #10 in this thread Dating used Kemper equipment.

Personally I avoid sitting in front of computer monitors when playing due to RFI (or EMI). I have 2x 24" touchscreen monitors on my desk. If I am using any single coil pickup near them I have to be turned 90 to 180 degrees away from the monitor or the noise makes trying to play unenjoyable.

I'm havening a ball. So far I've gotten about half way through the installed rigs and found a couple of new favorites. When I get to the bottom of the list I plan to remove all the rigs that didn't sound good enough (to me) to give a rating to. So far, that means all but about 10 rigs.

I'm using Rig Manager and the front panel of the Rack. It has actually taught me more about the Stage unit. Running RM with 2 Kempers can be a little tricky if one is not paying close attention.

I don't use the looper on my Stage and won't miss it on the Rack. I may eventually want more pedal inputs but I'm just using 1 pedal for volume at the moment. I have 3 loopers and 2 drum machines that run completely independent of the Kempers. The looper inputs are fed by aux outs on the board (X32) so I can route any channel on the board to the looper.

The main reason I have a second Kemper is for wireless use with my pedal steel and other instruments when I have a friend over.

download the last release version before V9

decompress the zip file and copy the koas.bin file to the OS Update folder on the USB stick.( delete any other kaos.bin file that may be there.)

insert the usb stick into the kemper with the kemper ON

after a few seconds the kemper will ask if you want to update. select the YES button.

After that you can reinstall V9 with Rig Manager or copy the V9 kaos.bin file back onto the USB stick and reinsert into the kemper.

    My next question is, what is the best (easy and cheap) solution to using wi-fi with the rack? I found a video that recommends using a wireless wi-fi bridge dongle;

I have a router in my setup for my Behringer X32 mixer, can I just run a Cat6 cable from the Kemper Rack to the router? The router has no internet access but I don't think that's needed for the iOS Rig Manager app. If this can be done, does the cable need to be shielded and does it need PoE?

Just got a brand new Kemper Rack yesterday. I have been using a used Kemper Stage that I bought back in Jan 2022 and it's a whole new experience. The Stage came with a ton of profiles that were unusable for me (high gain and lots of distortion) so I deleted all the rigs and loaded a few profiles that fit my music better, The new Rack unit came with only factory content. I was surprised at the quality of the factory loaded rigs, much better than I was expecting. I will be busy for weeks going through all of them.

I did not order a remote for the Rack because it sits right next to my desk and figured I can live without it. I'm guessing there's nothing I can do with a remote that can't be done from the Rack unit itself. (?) I hope it's not needed because I'm short on floor space around my desk, I didn't even hook up a volume pedal for the Rack.

I'll probably have to ask a few questions because of the differences between the Rack and the Stage but hopefully not. First thing I am wondering is what the heck is the Quick button for? The stage doesn't have one (as far as I know). I had to read the manual before I could even turn the Rack unit on, I was looking for a simple power button and never would have thought that power on/off was done with the chicken head knob. At any rate I am very happy with Kemper and am sure I will be busy for quite a while.

Thanks for your reply. I did change the tags after profiling but one tag wouldn't change, namely the Author tag under the Amp section. All the tags were carried over to the new profile from the rig that was loaded before profiling.

The documentation is unclear on a few things, especially since Ver. 9. The manual says "As soon as you press STORE you will be guided through three pages with tags. " but that never happened in any of the 3 attempts to profile my Fender Machete. I really don't get why a rig has to be loaded before profiling either, that seems to be the source of my problem.

I also looked at the Kemper Stage screen for an "edit tags" option (soft button) during the profiling process but never found one. I got a new Rack unit yesterday and it sits close to the desk so I am going to try profiling from that (without Rig Manager) for the next profile. I am thinking the profiling assistant in Rig Manager is still a work in progress.

    Burkhard

page 349 of Kemper Main manual ((9.0)

" Once you are happy with the result of the PROFILING, you can store the sound as a new Rig in your browse pool.

We highly recommend that you save the PROFILE before you start modifying its parameters, so as to preserve the
original settings. As soon as you press STORE you will be guided through three pages with tags. "

Is this not possible when profiling from the Profiling Assistant in Rig Manager?
