Don't mind me jumping in but would a MOTU M2 2x2 USB-C Audio Interface work to record Kemper into DAW in stereo as entry level Interface? It has loopback function with 2 - XLR combos going in and 2 - TRS going out (also with RCA). I am assuming you can create left and right channel profiles to go out of Kemper and into the 2 - XLR's of the Interface.

There are a few reasons why I am thinking on pulling the trigger on a Kemper over tube amps.
1. I love to play tube amps at LOUD volumes - that's where the magic is. I practice over 4 hours per day, and the wife and kids are home because of Covid crap. I have to practice at whisper volumes. So, I an stuck using attenuators which is okay for practicing alone but never gives me the tone I want.
2. I have a few amps now, but would like to try a Fender twin, Fender Hot Rod, Peavey 6505, EVH 5150, Mesa Recto, and a Studio Plexi to develop certain tones for the songs I write. We are talking 2020 mid-engine Corvette down-payment prices to get me there.
3. My first experience with modeling was the cheapo Marshall Code 50 that I plugged directly into my DAW and output thru my monitors and headphones. They have a few nice Marshall amp and cab sims and a couple of Fender-ish sims (I use plugins for the effects). I made some recordings and got the best complements on tone from pro players. They were shocked I was getting that sound from a Code. The only negative was trying to learn to cut out that digital fizz with EQ plugins.
If the Kemper is twice as good as what I can do with a Marshall Code then I am thinking I would be a good candidate for Kemper modeling. I do like tweaking to get that perfect tone. I kind of consider that part of my practice now - keeps me passionate about my music. I don't think I will have the need to purchase profiles over the default list.
I also looked up used prices and used availability of Kemper Profilers. The used prices are only a few hundred off retail, and there are not that many actually for sale. Which tells me, if I can't be satisfied with it, I won't loose much selling it. I'd probably loose more selling my Code.
Sweetwater is ready whenever I am.

Dude, its really easy.
Do you need stereo? As previously said, live I just don;t think its worth it. That will halve you monitoring cost.
All you need is rack, remote and a monitor. I used o use a PA wedge but I tried a few ( as suggested). Because I went for a powered rack, the wedge was passive and only cost £180. Your main out ( as I use mono for PA as well) as you say just goes to the PA.
Wedges work well because they point at the band so your levels are more sensible!
I still want two monitors for home studio. So, don't talk me out of it.

BTW, those floor monitors will be right in front of me to try those squealing feedback signals with main outputs going to the PA's. The singer will be at center stage, and the bassist on his other side. But, looks like it might be time to get some in-ears. --just more money again.
Thanks for all your suggestions!

LOL. I plugged in to my amp one night and got no sound out at all even though the lights where on and tubes lit. Found out one stupid patch cable mysteriously came out a bit on my pedal board.

...
If you mostly do recording, then the toaster does offer more physical knobs and physical feedback (LED meters around knobs which you didn't mention).
...
I didn't notice that when I did a quick comparison. I saw in a video that the toaster option even gives you LED feedback on expression pedals. So, that is something to consider.

Hi guys, thanks everybody for the feedback!
It seems all the answers converge towards the same solution: headphones.
Yes it's a compromise but hey, if it works for you it will work for me as well!
I own a pair of Sennheiser HD500 which are relatively good quality: I'll bring them at the test and see how they works; eventually, I'll buy a new pair, it won't affect the budget.
I've read several threads in this forum and this is really a great community. Thanks again.
Like amps, one pair of headphones never seems to be enough. I have the Marantz MPH-4. They put out much more bass response than what my desktop monitors put out - which is good and bad. Considering how much you plug and unplug them (and yank them off). You will need more than one.

Will this setup work on stage for a stereo profile? (forgive my drawing... it's been a while). I'm getting super close to hitting my $2500 limit - rack profiler, rack mount, monitors, cables, cords. Yikes!
Another question: Is there really a difference between the tonality of an Active FRFR monitor over using an Active Full Range monitor/PA ? Can you just re-EQ to get a similar tone from one to the other?

Just be aware that headphones will add some color to your sound that will be different from what your monitors put out - in case you start mixing and all that stuff.

Thanks guys!

I have the SKB 1SKB-R3S Roto-Molded Shallow 3U Rack Case in my wishlist at Sweetwater for it. Only $160 with about a 4.7/5.0 rating.

What about a Motu M2? I've seen great reviews on them.

Burkhard, spikey Thank you both for fast answers!
Last question (I think): I need to use some squeeling feedback after hitting a specific note. Like you get when standing directly in front of a cab on stage during high gain channel and playing back into the cab. Would a Kemper high gain profile react the same way if I played in front of an FRFR cab on stage or studio? I want to make sure I can duplicate my techniques used with real tube amps.
Thanks!

Hello all. I'm researching a purchase of a Kemper and have a few questions that I hope some of you can answer. I would like to use a profiler for studio and live gigs. I currently have tube and SS amps (combos and cabs), and FX pedals.
1). The rackmount is missing two knobs that the head has - Rate and Intensity (under the Stomps area). Are these controls easy to access somewhere else? Is there any other major difference of the two types?
2). Do you need to hook up profiler to an external audio interface or does it plug straight in to computer USB for DAW.
3). Can you leave the profiler on for 5-8 hrs per day all week long without danger of overheating?
4). (weird one) Can you model a solid state amp with cab accurately?
5). To bring correct tone from studio to live gig, can you use active PA (or active monitors) rather than an active FRFR cab for both studio and live stage?
6). In case of a power failure on stage, can you reboot profiler and get right back yo your profiles in a couple of minutes? I had heard in can take up to 20 minutes.
7). Does Kemper have a computer program UI to control the profiler via USB, or do you have to use the profiler itself for all commands?
8). Can I plugin my own Pedals up front (Phaser, Flanger, Delay, Reverb, etc) with profiles and expect the same quality of sound and accurate representation as if I had the same rig in person? Can the profiler mimic an effects loop when using your own pedals?
9). Can you use an inexpensive two button foot switch to navigate profiles up-down for stage use?
Thanks for your time! I reserve the right to ask more questions.
