Pedal position inconsistent

    So, I recently changed my board a bit and added two Dunlop mini pedals. They're great space savers and feel just like a big pedal (at least to me).
    Unfortunately, it seems the Kemper is not tracking the pedal position correctly. I have a wah configured for most of my rigs with the toe-position-bypass option enabled. However, on occasion I will change rigs and the sound will have the wah in a "half-cocked" position, even though the pedal is all the way forward.


    Sorry for the long-winded intro, but I figured what I'm asking wouldn't make sense otherwise. Anyone have an idea what the problem may be? Is there a way to force the Kemper to "assume bypass" on an effect after a program change?

    If you use Pedal Mode "Bypass @ Toe" in all wah effects in all Rigs, that should work.


    Have you pressed "Calibrate" and performed a complete sweep of your expression pedal?

    Does the bar representing the Wah Pedal on page Pedal Links reach the maximum corresponding value 127?

    Or if you hear the wah effect while your pedal rests in toe position, is the value at 127?

    Burkhard No, I did not calibrate the pedal. On any individual Rig, the toe position "activates" bypass, so I just assumed that the pedal was calibrated correctly. I will double check.

    Again - on any individual rig everything works as it should. It's on Rig-changes (example: in performance mode, from "1" to "2" on the remote) when this randomly happens. I'll try to reproduce and get a video of it ....

  • I’m now on bypass@stop too. I used to use the toe switch on the mission pedal but I don’t like the mission and will be replacing it shortly so wanted to check if bypass@stop was reliable enough for me. So far I haven’t had any issues in several months but haven’t experienced a wobbly stage yet. The advantage of bypass@stop over bypass@toe for me is that it has double security. If I leave it at the toe position it is also “stopped’ by definition. If I stop anywhere else (accidentally stop at heel because of a heat pf the moment brain fart for example) it is still “stopped” and therefore bypassed.

    Interesting. Perhaps that's a simple solution for me as well. What's the delay between "stopping movement" and the wah going to bypass?

    Now i remember why i am not using the bypass @ stop. I have been using it but it times out too fast for me. Burkhard can i suggest then a parameter for the “timeout lenght”?

    So, it looked like the calibration was correct, but I went ahead and calibrated it again anyway. My issue did not happen during our practice session that night, but as I mentioned before, it was somewhat random to begin with.

    Is there a way to visualize the actual numerical (midi) values on the pedal position somewhere?

    Tried the bypass@stop - doesn't work for me. It removes the ability to do the "Zakk Wylde - half-cocked" sound ....

    You see the values corresponding to the pedal bars on page Pedal Links. This page is either in System Settings (Head and Rack models) or in Pedal Settings (Stage). Soft knob 2 is Wah Pedal and the values follow the pedal moves. You can also simulate pedal moves witht hat knob.
