Need help with the Rotary Speaker Effect.

  • I was listening to an old riff I did with the Rotary effect but I can't match it up to that sound anymore. I had a nice slow wash from left to right speakers but now the Rotary sounds way too fast in SLOW mode. Did the new updates change this?

I have left and right stereo outs with the Rotary Distance at 4.0cm, Stereo anywhere from 90* to 180*, and Mix at 100%. The rotary is way too fast in SLOW mode. I need it about half that speed or less.

  • are you sure it was the Rotary?
AFAIK the speeds were never adjusted.
Maybe the original used a Tremolo as a Panner effect?

I will have to look into that and report back. I only have the recording with no documentation except "tone from Kemper" . In the meantime, I downloaded the Spiner LE Simluator plugin and that got me real close, but I would prefer to use what I did on the Kemper before because the "wash" was so beautiful on that recording.

  • Is it set to tap tempo?

The rotary on has fixed fast and slow speeds no temp sync. Christoph says that a real Leslie has those 2 specific speeds and a specific ramp between them so he doesn’t see any reason to make these variable. There are more rotary speakers than just the classic Leslie though so adding control to the effect to allow different speakers from the same effect (like the Kemper Drive and Kemper Fuzz) would male sense to me.

  • I added the Tremolo effect with Rate all the way down and Stereo all the way up after the Rotary effect, and I am getting the nice "wash" effect left to right the same as from my old sample track, BUT the panning is still too fast. Using a 1/4 ping-pong delay seems to help get the stereo wider to simulate a more slow panning effect. BUT again, it's still too fast from what I had before.

I hate to say it because I know it's been requested before but a speed control on the Rotary and Tremolo effect would make life easier.

I don't know what else to try. The tone is there! just not the right panning speed.
